The dishwasher uses alot more water then hand washing.
But, I still use the dishwasher everyday practically becuase I have 6 people in my house. The children rinse their own dishes and put them in the dishwaher. This gives me more time for my children! I enjoy time with them over doing dishes any day!
Also, I put plastic toys in the dishwasher after my kids have had a cold. I also have been known for washing a baseball cap or two.
: )
15 gallons of water per load is the aproximate amount used.

The dishwasher will use more energy and water.
However, dishwashers are not just for convenience, they do have other benefits. The big benefit is that the water in a dishwasher is much hotter than the water you use when you hand wash, in effect, sterilizing the dishes. They also likely rinse the dishes better than you do, removing more of the soap.

Hand washing will artwork once you're making plans to keep money . A dishwasher needs electric too ... so which you will ought to pay for added electric . Hand washing is extra clever it could get out fairly sticky stains in assessment to a dishwasher ,it is going to easily rinse ... I also have a dishwasher which i take advantage of in basic terms whilst the maid isn't around or as quickly as I had a social gathering and that i'm lazy . 3 sinks in my kitchen . 2 to bathe dishes the different a million for fruit and veggie

On average, a person uses 92 litres of water during the course of washing the dishes once. A dishwasher uses about 64 litres. Use the "water miser" cycle (less hot water) and select "air dry" to save on power.
If you do wash dishes by hand - fill the sink with hot, soapy water for washing (you can safely add a capful of bleach for disinfectant if you wish). Fill the other sink or a basin with cool water for rinsing. Never run the water with the drain open and wash your dishes at the same time.
Just a few other hints to conserve water:
-turn the tap off while brushing your teeth or shaving
-set a 5 minute timer for your shower
-don't wash you car at home, use an environmentally conscientous (sp) washing bay

I prefer the dishwasher. It washes in very hot water so your dishes are much more sterile and clean. Baby bottles and dishes your baby eats from are better off washed in the dishwasher.
If you can fill up the dishwasher, you won't be using tons more water. BTW, throw in your sponge from the sink. spatulas, kitchen tools, etc.. The only things I don't put in the dishwasher are knives and heavy pots.
If conserving water is the issue, run the dishwasher late at night or very early in the morning when water is cheaper...

If you have a lot of dishes, a dishwasher is handy. And certainly it will get your dishes sterile since it won't be going, "Ouch! That water's hot!" But I've found that for a small number of dishes and people, hand-washing is less time-consuming and less noisy, and doesn't tie up resources (such as drawing off the water pressure so you can't take a shower or whatever).

I don't know about how much water you are using, but if you have the time and don't mind, handwashing is just fine. Plus, by the time you rinse, load, wait for the dishwasher to wash, and unload, the dishwasher takes a lot of time. And if there is only 3 of you it might be days before it is full enough to do a full load.

I think you mean "as doing them in the dishwasher".
I wash up by hand, but that's only because I don't have a dishwasher. Remember though that you wouldn't put your hands in the chemicals a dishwasher uses and it can ruin your glasses and crockery.
If you are worried about water use, this is fun:-

Washing by hand is the way to go. Dishwashers waste water. Also they dont clean well. Conservation is the best solution. Not to mention electricity that the dishwasher uses.
