Agreed. We'll only live in peace when we all decide to. I don't blame blacks for feeling that way about whites, and I won't even bother with the tired old "but my grandparents were poor whites and didn't own slaves..." blah, blah, blah. But racism from any direction is still hate, and hate just creates more hate.
The truth is that we live in a society that tolerated slavery until not too long ago, and even more recently we still had segregation and legal discrimination for jobs and housing, and we still have discrimination happening, even though it's supposedly illegal.
So.... I get frustrated when I hear whites talking about how Affirmative Action is discrimination, and how blacks only get hired because they're black, etc. It's just more racist crap. Racism is alive and well, and it's so sad that even here on Yahoo answers people say "What's wrong with being racist?" As if to ask "why shouldn't I hate other people?"
There is one race - the HUMAN race!!! We get so hung up on differences that we blow out of proportion because it makes ourselves feel more secure some how. After all, if we have a group to hate, we feel our own identity is stronger. That kind of thinking causes genocide, in its most extreme.
Let's take a look at our own thinking and reactions to other people. When we see someone in a different "group," and start to make ignorant assumptions about that person, be aware of how you're thinking. Stop the thought in its tracks, and replace it with a prayer. Silently wish that other person joy, love, and laughter. Offering prayers to total strangers is a good first step to realizing that we're all from the same place, and we all share the same spirit.
Love, light, and peace.

You ask a smart question and yougive some good advice!
My grandparents were from Ireland and Italy. They came here in the 1940s so I don't have slaveowner guilt. It must be difficult to have misguided rage towards people because of the color of thier skin. I can understand why whites in the south discriminated against blacks. They felt threatened. They were suddenly in direct competition with those who were not previously a threat. But today's black on white racism is just out of hatred. If there is one thing history has taught us it is that it will be self destructive.

Nobody has forgotten anything. Blacks just feel this insatiable need for whites to kiss their butts and give them everything they have worked for. Although what happened to your GREAT GREAT grandparents (not grandparents, Einstiein) was horrible, if it wasn't for slavery, guess where you would be now? Sometimes history sucks, but your opportunities are limitless in America. Stop whining, and go get what you want without expecting "the Man" to hand it all to you on a silver platter.
America IS the silver platter, and you are standing on it.
By the way, you really should be upset with your OWN PEOPLE for selling your ancestors to the rest of the world (that's right, not just us).

I agree, but I also see where a lot of it comes from. There is still so much racism that it's not hard to see where 'reverse' racism comes from. There is no equality. In reality there will never be, but right now it's because of race or gender rather than on ability.

thank you!!! now i know that the white people opressed the blacks, but i wasnt one of those whites, and you werent one of those blacks, and i dont think its fair that i have to be treated like i did when i go out of my way to treat everyone with the respect that i feel we all deserve to have. if we want this world to be better than we have to stop living in the past and work towards a better future!! thank you for taking the stand too!!

Racism should not and cannot be tolerated at all in any shape or form. We live for the present and the future and should conduct ourselves that way. History should never be forgotten but we cannot let that affect how we treat people now.

I've noticed that myself. I'm Asian, I've received several racial slurs from people, a couple from caucasians, one from a mexican, but majority of them are black people.
Long ago, I thought that black people should have the least amount of racist people because of their bad experiences with caucasians in the early 20th century and before. So far, they're the most amount of racist people I've encountered. I guess there's a lot them who are okay with being hypocrites, if they realize it.

that's a great thought, if you can get everyone together on that you should be man of the year... the problem being is you have whites, blacks, latinos, and asians that haven't quite grasped the thought of peace on earth good will to ALL men... but the thought is still a great one, lets all work to attain that goal!!!

I'm with it....but can we start funding school in poor neighborhoods, can we start encouraging young blacks to become police officers instead of telling them to hate the police, can we stop hating ourselves, and accepting responsibility for our actions? I think those things would help blacks from being "racist".

There is no such thing as "reverse" racism.
Racism is defined as hatred or bigotry on the basis of a person's race - and it doesn't matter which race that is.
Therefore, hatred/fear/bigotry perpetrated against blacks by whites is racism.
Hatred/fear/bigotry perpetrated against whites by blacks is racism
hatred/fear/bigotry perpetrated against blacks by Asians is racism
hatred/fear/bigotry perpetrated against Asians by whites is racism
You get the idea....
