its probably the core inside the cable has broke.unhook it from under the dash and pull out the core and put in a new 1......you can get them from autozone(but make sure you grease the new 1 before you insert it in the cable.i hope i was some help to you.

THere is a transducer on the gear box that sends an electronic pulse to operate your speedo,it is probably faulty.
