were as yes, they are dangerous, your mom is probably just being a bit over protective, because she doesn't want anything to happen to you, and since some pretty horrible things can happen with stuff like that, she is probably just scared...so show her you can be responsible and careful, and mature, and in no time she will change her mind.

neck or not that is 14 is too young for an ATV or a golf cart. It is too dangerous and I know from experience when I was thirteen I flipped my go-cart which did about 50 mph it took me 6 months to heal and eleven years later the scars are still very prominent they go from my ankle to my hip on my left leg a large part of both of my arms my chest and I still have a piece of gravel embedded in my lip.

So not only can it cause you serious physical injury but did you ever think of how much it cost to buy on ATV or a golf cart not to mention money for gas insurance and the money it will cost WHEN you injure yourself.

Your mom is right. Just because your friends parents hate your friend and want him to die doesn't mean your parents want you to die.

Or that's my logic, anyway. I don't see any other reason a parent would buy their child such a dangerous "toy" unless they hate their children and want their children to die, since it's going to be treated exactly in that manner, as a "toy", not as something that can kill you if you make the wrong decision.

You want to know why your mother won't buy you one? Because a 14 year old was out on US 27 a few weeks ago, his parents were riding with him. He made a turn too sharply and fell off the ATV into a bog and broke his neck. People can do everything right on an ATV, and still die.

It's also annoying that rednecks like you make rednecks like me look like idiots. Christ, pay attention in school rather than worrying about whether or not mommy is going to waste a ridiculous amount of money on you.

Considering that one of my boyfriends broke his back riding an ATV, I agree with your mom. And he was 28 at the time and a very good driver. I know it sounds like fun, but it's so easy to get carried away. Your mom just has your best interests and safety in mind. Wait until you're 18 and you have some major driving experience under your belt.

Maybe, maybe not. Depends on your maturity level. Just remember that she is only trying to protect you. If you wish to continue arguing your points for getting an ATV, do so in a calm and reasonable manner, laying out your reasons in a way that she sees you are trying to be reasonable and not a "kid" on this (throwing a tantrum and so on). She may still say no however, in which case don't fight it anymore. Instead wait a litlle while, probably a year or so and maybe try again.

eh, for a 14 year old, it's not that safe. I've seen custom built ATV's flip over on guys going up steep hills, and if you're not strong enough to push it off of you, it's pretty dangerous. stick to a mountain bike for now..

No... people (I used to) ride them all the time. Wear a helmet & protective gear.

People on here are such wimps... god

Get a dirt bike (motocross) instead... funner and can do more on it. Your 14... get at least an 80

It makes no difference if you are a redneck or not. You are just 14 years of age and are way too young for anything that is motorized. You will probably ride it carelessley, get yourself killed or kill someboy.

Mom is right.

Moms are pretty much always right when it comes to dangerous things.

I gotta agree with your mom.
