She's devastatd by it and she feels guilty that she never really told him how she really felt about him when they broke up. It sounds to me like your saying the guy killed himself on Valentines Day. I'm a female scorpio, you learn to read between the lines.
The only thing your friend can do is move on with her life. She was not concerned before, so why concerned now. You said her ex passed and she didn't know it until now. Dahh!

As a scorpio she is passionate about many things. As a passionate person she draws passion and dram into her life. This is likely one example. I don't think anything went wrong.
