Because once we start reading the newspaper we tend to just carry on till the end or until our bum goes dead.

I spend ages on the toliet even when I KNOW there is nothing solid coming..It is to get 5 mins of peace and quiet, read another chapter and gernally relax and sometimes its because I am having a spectacular dump, which takes 10 mins and includes something that can only be described as a "danger to shipping"!!

I am a lady and i spend ages on the loo too. It gives me time to myself, a liittle moment of peace and quiet away from the little ones.
That may be why your hubby does it....Maybe next time you need a little break, pop to the loo. Noone would dare disturb you.

Well, I can assume he is old and so his prostate and urinary bladder aren’t functioning as well as once and a simple piss becomes a tragedy. Or, maybe he will be so conceited to spend all the time near the mirror! I’d be more jealous in your shoes!

Just kidding. It could be a health issue. It is generally believed my many men, myself included, that pushing things out too fast can cause hemroids. Better to let it come out at it's own pace.
Some men like to read in there too, so maybe they want to finish the article...

Because they have to win at everything and if they go in the bathroom without having a result, it means they have lost. They have to stay there for as long as it takes!
