Cubans here are rejoicing in the streets but I hear that Castro's brother is even more brutal. What do you think will happen? The US government is all about spreading "democracy."

By "step in," are you suggesting interfering in Cuba's sovereignty? While the US should not adopt an isolationist policy, the US should also not spend effort to force other countries to conform to Western ideals.

It is this attitude which created the "Cold War" between the USSR and Western civilizations after WWI. When the allies mad the decision to rearm the Germans and send them into Russia to overthrow the Communists, the citizens of the USSR, while they may not have agreed with Communism, surely did not enjoy having other countries make those decisions for them.

Haven't you been watching the news. America CAN'T do anything. They're tapped out in Iraq. Now they have N. Korea and Iran. Not to mention the disaster in Lebanon. Unless Cuba points and FIRES and missile at America, she should stay the hell out of it. Let Cubans revolt and drag the Castros through the streets and pelt their dead bodies in the town square, we have REAL problems that are far greater than an aging dictator and his a$$hole brother.

There is a law/policy that says that as long as Raul Castro is "any part of the Cuban government" the US cannot normalize relations with them.

The U.S. isn't doing so well imposing democracy half way around the world and I don't think it can do it on its own doorstep. If it doesn't come from the Cuban people, it's not going to happen.

Cuba would be imploded after Castro's death. Soon after that people would invite democracy into the country

I think the U.S. will have to observe and hopefully open up relations with Castro's brother.

US has enough on its platter-besides if we did "step in" people would complain and wonder why were there. Not caring its to get rid of any evil dictator and free an entire people. Beside right now it seems the world is backing terrorist and not freedom.

why no longer. we now have bought guns to Iraq and Iran ... we exchange with China. there's no purpose to hold the embargo except we're going to make it "reasonable and steadiness" and situation the identical regulations on ALL nations which are very similar to Cuba.

I hope not. We are accused enough of being the world's BIG BROTHER. I think our reputation could use a rest. But we like to do that kind of thing so we probably will step in, with some excuse like they are so near our border...blah...blah...blah
