Why is it that in our culture that in movies and television its ok for a woman to slap a man?

Its never right for a man to slap a woman because men are usually stronger and that is just taking advantage of that. But that isn't really your main question.

I would say it isn't so much "right" for the woman to slap a man, but rather it is a plot technique (only for movies and TV, it isn't right for a woman to slap a man in real life either, because that is taking advantage of the fact he can't really slap her back). But in movies, it is a plot technique to show the hatred and/or anger the woman feels for the man, which will only serve to make it more "magical" when the man finally gets past that hatred/anger to get the girl. You can pretty much guess that when a woman slaps a man on TV shows or movies that the man will eventually get that girl, and you'd be right 99% of the time. But that is all that is in movies.

If a man slaps a woman, it is considered demeaning to her and a way to show his dominance, or let out his frustration on her due to an issue from some other source. When a woman slaps a man, it's because he has said something particularly nasty or just treated her like yesterday's trash. It's always directly related. I don't believe either side is justified in physical violence, though. And some women abuse the ethical, "A man should never hit a lady." I say, "A lady never raises her hand in violence."

It is left over from a different time, when women had little power in any aspect of their lives. About the only power she had when totally insulted or hurt by words was to slap. She could get in a real good one. There wasn't a bloody thing he could do about it because in those days, men would never admit in a million years that a little lady could slap hard enough to hurt. They were also bound by a different set of rules which understood that if he hit her back, he could do her some real damage whether he meant to or not. Now, if a woman is insulted by you she takes your *** to court and hits you in the wallet, or gets her hands on your SS# and wipes out your bank account or puts a hit on you. Men don't appear to hesitate to hit back, either, and still don't understand how strong they are. Any woman who slaps a man these days had better be ready to rumble!

I don't care what anyone says,but you should Never put your hands on anyone.But,if I'm slapped by a man or woman,you can rest assured that you'll get the same.Gender should never be an issue.

Just an old thing. We still give women that license to slap etc. a Victorian thing like alimony and chil support and other such things which are archaic.

Because there is a double standard in America. Women are allowed to say and do dispicable things to men that men are no longer permitted to do. Punch him in the face.....it's funny. Kick him in the balls........it's funny. It's the same reason women who kill their children or husbands are "mentally ill" but men who do the same are "monsters".
