Why is everybody out to get Barry?

I mean I know why , but hey there were many guys in the room that said they "didn't knowingly take steriods. But he the only one getting hammered. Even Giambi was busted but baseball doesn't care. Are they out to get him..because he's black and he broke the greatest all time record...Babe Ruths...if we want to go back in time and look at cheaters...Babes games were bought by Mobsters...games were thrown in his favoor...because of the people he associated with. So can we put an asterick by one name and not the other? I am just asking, so no bashers please. It's just a question for your honest opinion. Because I don't think it's fair that they chase one and not all.

racism is a whole nother issue in itself, because in todays world, it's not the same. While I do think there is hatred towards Bonds cause he's black, I don't think that is the main ingredient.

People make it out that others with great physical talents should always come off as grateful and humble about their skills. The media then portrays those who don't fell obligated to assimilate as villains. Bonds gets caught in this because he doesn't feel that he has to be what people want him to be. Never has. And in all honesty, we make to big a deal about what we think an athlete is as a person when we don't really even know the person. Because the person you see on the field is not always the same off the field.

People always look for ways to get ahead. Rather in an office job, rather in society, or in sports. But we all try to get ahead cause the field is never equal. Someone is always percieved as better. Someone always has the extra it to get by. Someone always has the supplement to make themselves a little bit better the next person. So in reality, we all have the same faults that any of these men do.

I still find it funny that it's wrong in the opinions of people to add more of something that is already in your body. We do it for those who we say have health conditions, but to do it for the advancement of yourself is morally wrong...we don't get mad at breast implants.we don't get mad at the asthma inhailer that uses steriods, or the old man whose testoseterone count is low so he uses it and becomes biger cause he still works out....

I guess I'm one of the few people who still believes in innocent until proven guilty, cause I'm still giving benifit of the doubt to Bonds, or maybe I'm just nieve...or maybe I've seen people naturally gain huge amounts of bulk over a couple of years using supplements more socially exceptable. Unitl the courts can prove something, I guess I'll be the one holding out hope...


PS - people love a figure head or just someone to blame everything on. and it's funny, cause the one they keep going after, they can't get and the ones they don't are failing test.

I am a lifelong baseball fan, I watch all the movies and read all the books, and I have NEVER heard of Babe Ruth being involved in thrown games. And I would have heard of it, because that couldn't be kept quiet. That would have had to be a huge conspiracy involving at least two or three teams other than his own. Do you have links or citations to prove this? I punched "Babe Ruth cheating" into several search engines, and every link I got was about Barry Bonds cheating and passing Babe Ruths mark. I will watch this question for those citations about Babe Ruth.

As for Bonds, of course it isn't racist! The hubbub is not so much about passing Babe Ruths mark, it's about passing the REAL record, which has been held by a black man, Hank Aaron, since 1974. Now, all the other players who testified to the Grand Jury admitted they did it, gaves dates, amounts and specific details. Giambi cheated, admitted it, and moved on. Bonds cheated and he lied about it (as did Palmiero and McGwire, although not in front of a Grand Jury).

He messed up the two most important personal records in baseball. He cheated. He won't go away. If he had just left a few years ago he would have been forgotten.

The single season hr record would have just been ignored. Baseball is really just a reason to drink anyway. Pretty damn boring stuff.

Others do cheat. But they pay a price when caught. Like the Black Sox of 1919.

I don't know about the Babe cheating.But look at Notre Dame. The whole George Gipp game was a total cheating scam. Rockne was buds with the refs. Maybe it became a legend because of a ridiculous movie or maybe they got away with it because of the white christian thing. I doubt it could happen now.

Hank broke the Babes record and he is black, so color has nothing to do with it. Look at Bonds when he played with the Pirates compared to now notice a huge difference. Look at lagging injuries he has. Those all point to steriods, but hey whatever. Same can be said for other players baseball isnt serious about stopping steriod use so its pointless to think they are.

One very known reason why they are after him is of course, the steriods. But another reason is that he is rude and doesn't care about his fans. He hit a 70th home run (or something around there) and one of his fans caught it in the stands and asked him if he could sign it and he gave a fake, bad excuse that was unexceptable. Also, the other guys that took steriods didn't beat Babe Ruth's record, but HE did so mainly he cheated to get his way to the top, and suceeded. It gives a bad name to baseball for cheating because he did that.

It's about the records, Barry had to take steriods to beat the Babe, while Babe drank beer and smoked cigars and was the greatest. I don't really care about him beating Babe though, I care about him beating Aaron, because Aaron was a genuinely good hitter. He should always be the Home Run King.

Because he denies it. giambi addmitted to taking them and people forgave him. Even Mark Mcgwire and raphael Palmero are hated because they did not admit to it. (Mcgwire pled the fifth where palmero denied it.) Barry Bonds is obviously on steroids (or was) and still vehemently denies ever taking them. He is a cheater and should have an asterik next to every record he has broken. if Pete Rose is banned from baseball for gambling (and not admitting to it), Barry Bonds should be banned for cheating.

Because it's fun to boo him. Have you ever been to a game with 40,000 people all booing in chorus? It's awesome. Every sport should have a Barry Bonds. That's what makes sports so great, wouldn't you agree?
