It's called synesthesia, and it's a hypnotic phenomenon where a person derives feelings from sounds, feelings from visuals, and on and on in most any combination you may imagine. Colors from music would be an auditorily induced visual hallucination. The music is a trigger for a visual anchor. Stimulus - Response.
Or more simply stated, you have a hallucinative state associated with the music to which you are listening. These states can occur naturally in human beings, as well as being induced through hypnotic suggestion.

Generally I don't see colors. Then again, I don't use LSD much anymore either. I think that probably has a great deal of influence on intense visual hallicinations.
Sometimes, however, I have been able to see geometric mosaic patters, fractal designs when I have experimented with MDA and MDMA. But, I suspect everyone's experiences with those two substances will be different than mine.

Many people with autism do! (Not saying you have autism). It is due to some 'cross - wiring' in the brain. - Some of the nerve fibres which are designed to recieve auditory input are connected to colour sensing neurons too.
It's rare but it can happen, in the same way that 'cross wiring' can enable you to hear shadows or smell sounds!
Interesting isn't it?

yeah, and your not weird or on drugs. it's your subconscience reacting to the sensory perception that the music enhances.

I smell in color sometimes. It's called synthesia---it's when some of your senses overlap.
