if you want a powerful processor i do recomend the new intel Core Duo which is code names "yonah" those are pretty good cause they have two processing cores into one processor they are socket 478 because the chip is at 677mhz fsb and 2 x 1mb cache. if you are going to play games a Ati Radion X1600 with 256 of ram sounds good and also 1024 of PC4200 DDR2 Ram will help alot try using a 160GB SATA hard drive so it will all improve preformance and you will have an awsome gaming system and it will not affect any other preformance in you everyday tasks.

I recommend that you look through the DELL website. This will give you a ball-park to work with. You can even discover what 800FSB would cost as an upgrade.

Then look at systems at http://www.newegg.com and http://www.tigerdirect.com and get a more complete comparison.

You can also look for the SWEET deals that they might have at a local store like Wal-mart, Costco, STAPLES and other stores. May I warn you, however, that some stores won't be very nice to work with if it comes to RETURNS. Of course, Wal-mart, Costco and STAPLES are pretty easy to deal with.

Chipset is the motherboard control circuits that support the Intel P4 CPU chip. There are several sets, including Intel, Via and others.

When it comes to games, you will always want more. Even with the fastest machine, you will want to close all other programs and get the maximum performance for your game.

Good luck

Yes, that's enough.
I would recommend 1024 Mb RAM however (especially for upcoming Windows Vista); and dual core processor (Intel or AMD).

For latest games you need powerful (and maybe expensive) videocard.

Chipset is set of chips for computer's motherboard made by chip manufacturer. It's like car brand and model.

That seems plenty good for what you want. Gamming I am not sure, you did not list the video memory. At least 128MB video is great for gamming. What chipset a system has is basically what it can support.

It depends what games you want to play...the specs look good, but I'm not sure about the video card. You may also want to upgrade to 1GB of RAM.
