especially when i first get up.i am not overweight and i excercise regularly.

Yes, Heel Spurs. I think they're only removed by surgery.

Consdidering that you exercise regularly, and that the pain is most pronounced in the morning, the likely cause is called Plantar's fasciitis. It is an inflammation of a certain part of the heel, often cuased or worsened by exercise. The best option is taking a 3-4 day break from walking or running, and taking a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory (Advil) to get the inflammation down. You may also need more cushioned exercise shoes.

plantar fascitis... which can be caused by bone spurs on your heels...try using some heel pads or really good inserts in your shoes ..you can also try some of the really well made shoes that you would find in a specialty shoe store...brands like Ecco,Haflinger..I have this and by switching to different shoes mentioned and taking Aleve at perscription strength when it really hurts has helped alot....but you should see your doc about it..and if they xray your feet then they can see if there is a spur or not...if the spur is bad enough sometimes surgery is involved to file the spur off...
