The capability of humans to love others is very different. Some people cannot love even one person, others are satisfied with one and some more are able to love more than one person.
So I think this direction (one loves many) is possible.
What about the other direction? Can many person love the same person knowing that each of them is not alone? I think, this is culture dependent. In a culture, where you are trained to feel that the loved person is YOUR onliest, you will not like to share.
But even in these cultures it is possible an
d proved by the love of children to their parents and vice versa. Yes, there is sometimes jealousy even between siblings, but mostly they accept , that they love the same person (e.g. the mother) and that the mother loves all her children equal. And not only this, she has a another love (mostly on a higher level) with her husband and also this is accepted.
So I think, polyamory is not for everybody. But if you accept the special responsibilities which you have as in every marriage for everybody in this triple (triamory) then you can benifit from it much more. Dont see it only in a way that you have to share. Two persons will love you and you can love two persons. Thats a great feeling!
BTW: Polyamory is the correct spelling. Check it out at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polyamory

I just was reading Grim Reeper thats funny. I think people that love many are sick in the mind because they dont want to face the facts that they could have one wife. Infact I was watching montel on this and an old fart was the man that was a polyamory and he had different days to get these girls to have sex with him. That was gross and they where 13 years old. They threw all these other guys that where as young as these girls and told them to leave. They had to work it out on their own. I think Its wrong and these men that have 10 or more wifes they should be put to jail and fined for all the extra taxes they have cost the government.

I think it can be a very special thing. I am not a polygamist but I do understand (or try to understand) other living/loving environments.

I do not see what the difference is if all the members are consenting adults and know full well what they are living with. I am against the polygamists who live in cults and where 45 year old men marry 13 year old girls. What many people do not understand is that not all polygamy is like that. Polygamy is painted very darkly, which very unfair to those who do practice it in the moral way.

Polygamy for most is a religious belief... who am I to condemn someone for their religious beliefs... especially here in America.

I think it's stupid to believe that you can only love one person. I think this country shouldn't be allowed to tell you how many people you can marry. It is WAY possible to love more than one person at once. Of course I understand the people who DO only love one person, but I also understand the people who love more than one. Monogomy is fine, but no one should be allowed to say polygamy is wrong.

I think, if people don't believe in loving more than one person, that's fine for them. But just because some people don't believe in it, that doesn't mean that we should make a law banning it. They can just not participate in polygamy. It's not so terrible that they have to irradicate it from the world.

If I fell in love with two people, and they were both ok with it, I would totally be a polygamist. Then again, it's illegal in this country, so I wouldn't be able to.

Also, my boyfriend wouldn't want to share me. Which is stupid.

Tis not for me, but I have no problem with others interested in this lifestyle.

For me, it would take so much more work than a monogamous relationship, as there are even more people to have extremely open communications with. I suppose it would be ok if everyone involved were great communicators. But I just don't see that happening, unfortunately.

Those people are just fat bastards, they ruin teenagers lives and give them no future! A lot FORCE the teenagers to marry him because he is in their family. If they decline, they are kicked out. Many of them say they are backed by religion, which i think is a bunch of bullsh*t. Religion does not mean to force young girls to marry you when they don't want you so they can be like your maid or minion. If you are thinking about, do not! People look at poligamists as weirdos, only other polagimists respect you. And they don't love many, they don't even like them, they just want 30-40 wives. Most poligamists beat their wives, sometimes fatal. They suck ..!.. to them.

Polygamy is illegal in the U.S.A. now, but some groups practice it.

To the Apache of old, his mother-in-law(s) was/were not a problem as he was prohibited to make eye contact or be in the same room with a mother-in-law. I love old Indian customs!

I do not know if i could personally be a polygamist i suppose you only really know when faced with the situation. but like anything, i think as long as what people are doing is legal and between consenting adults then all is good :-)

What is polyamory? If you want to practice something, at least learn how to spell it.

So if the one person has many lovers, does that mean the other can have many lovers as well? And so on for all the other people? Sounds like STD heaven to me. GROSS.
