First, check on the computer's RAM, the higher or the bigger, the better. Second check also on your HD (hard drives), still talking bout memory. Defragment your HD to free some space. as per the deletion of your cookie, you could delete it from Temp folder

Maybe try defragmenting the hard drive.

My Mom's computer suffers from the same thing. She has tons and tons of games loaded on it, and my husband uninstalled a bunch of stuff, and defragged it and it was better. Eventually we bought additional memory and that helped too.

If she doesn't use the Internet, then she wouldn't have cookies. Here's what you can do, click start, all programs, accessories, disk cleanup, run that and afterwords run disk defrag.

I think if you give us more specifications of the PC then we can help you... But try virtual memory, set the presentation for better performance instead of better presentation, fragmentation of the HD... but i think we need more information of the PC, if it is a P2 or P4, celeron? size of the HD and RAM memory....

Check the amount of available RAM. If it is low, add more. Also check the amount of free hard drive space.
