With Fidel having relinquished power to his brother, the chances of a successful coup by the Cuban resistance look pretty good. Anyone else agree? And considering the contempt of the world community--outside the U.S., Britain, and Israel--for democratic reform, what will the world reaction to a coup be?

My question is based on a comment I heard on Fox News the evening the news was announced. Of course, it is possible Fidel's brother will follow his policies; in fact, I don't doubt he'll try. But the move is unprecedented in the 47-year history of the regime. Also, the brother (Raoul, I think?) is not the strongman Fidel is. The speculation was that within a few months, conditions might be right for the resistance to overthrow the regime. Who knows, but it could be freedom time for the Cuban people?
