The Welsh are decended from the original Brythonic tribes of Britain.TheseCeltic people traded ,and presumably interbred with, various other peoples from the Mediterranean area during the Pre-Roman period. The Roman occupation added to this genetic mix.
More recent immigration during the industrial revolution and after has diversified the racial mix ,so you can't assume that all Welsh people are similar.
You are more likely to find dark people in Welsh speaking North and West Wales .

Originally, the early Britons were nomadic visitors from asia/india. Then we were invaded by other cultures with more blonde attributes driving us into Wales and the West Country. The only reminders of this are the old tales and the fact that Welsh call themselves CYMRW which has the same meaning origins as comrades or brothers. Now, the descendants of the original Britons are pretty much strangers in their own country.

Great question....many answers...the first two are...
There was a large influx of Italian people into the region between the wars...
Further back than that, there was a massive migration to Patagonia (Argentina) a hundred years before: the farming dried up there but not before people started coming back with the new mix of races from the south americas...
Further back than that..well you will have to look up the mixture of races that made up Britain...I can't be bothered to go into that any further...

I've never seen a mediterranean-esque Welsh person. Are you sure you're not confusing them with the Guelsch, who at one time vied for power against the Hapsburgs in southern Europe?

if u mean some are coloured, or mixed race thats to do with the colonies - the welsh had colonies in caribbean during industrial revolution and many landowners had relations with some of their workers, still standing by their responsibilities to the child
