Let's assume that an advanced extra-terrestrial civilization exists within the depths of space, with the capability and capacity of reaching Earth. If they came here for any reason[s] whatsoever, do you think that they would most likely come here in either peace or in war (as their original intention[s])?

Sorry about the typo in the headline title of the question. It is meant to say: "Will E.T. come in peace or in war...?".

There was a discussion on some science forum about how to find out if there is life on Io, under the thick layer of ice. Someone seriously suggested sending a lot of nukes to Io to blow a hole in the ice so we could take samples of the water.

So here's what I think ET will do: Oxygen is toxic to him, so he will start burning off the entire atmosphere. Then he will investigate the surface of the Earth and report home that there's no life on Earth but some evidence suggests that there once was.

Humans often have violent intentions. I don't see why extraterrestrials would be different.
