Exchange is running on school server. Mac has OS X 10.4, MS 2004 Entourage and Mail.app.
Tech support are intimidated by Mac as they haven't enountered them before.

There's a good chance that, if the MAC wasn't supplied by the school, IT staff won't support it. If it runs, you're in luck, if it doesn't: it's your problem.
We have that policy here, and I've seen it around quite a bit. The simple reason for it is, that IT staff simply cannot support *everything* that's out there. There are too many programs running on different Operating Systems running on too many different hardware combinations for any IT staff to support it.
