I feel that the American government is being hypocritical. Furthermore, I think that the average American is unaware of the actions by all parties in the Middle East, and mostly end up echoing the 30-second sound clips of their government.

1) Americans often repeat the statement that "Israel was the traditional homeland of the Jewish people and it was stolen from them". While this may be a true statement depending on your point of view, if you agree with this statement than logically you should agree that all Americans should be forced to live in 25 states and the American Indians should be given back the other 25 states because their land was stolen from them, too. Or maybe California, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, and parts of Colorado should be returned to the Mexicans because their land was stolen from them.

2) The American government advocated for fair and free elections and would support the winner. The winner of the fair and free elections was Hamas. Instead of supporting the government as they had promised, the Americans condoned Israel witholding millions of dollars rightfully owed to the new Hamas governemnt so they could build roads, schools, hospitals, businesses, policemen, firemen, and other infrastructure of a nation. If another country witheld millions of dollars from the United States so that they could not pay their citizens salaries, repair bridges, or provide roads to transport food to market, the United States would go to war, too.

3) Why does the United States tolerate Israel being a racist country that only allows Jewish people to live there? When South Africa denied basic civil rights to non-white citizens, there was world wide outrage and demand to stop state sanctioned racism. Instead, the United States supports Israel's state sponsored discrimination against its non-Jewish citizens.

Personally, I do not believe the claims by the American government that organizations such as Hamas, or nations such as Syria, Jordan, and Saudi Arabia are trying to exterminate Israel. This statement is repeated again and again by American officials until they say it enough times that it is accepted as fact.

I believe that if the United States and all countries would end the unfair economic policies, stop military actions against citizens in other countries, and provide hope to Lebannon and the Palestinian people instead of humilation and despair, the fighting would stop and new nations would emerge.

A better question is ,how do you feel about a country like Israel that has been under attack by other nations in the region since the late 1940's,been out numbered 3 to 1 and is still in place? How about the war crimes or terrorism that they have been under all this time.Israel has NEVER attacked just Counterattacked to defend it's right to exist Who should the USA support; the attackers or the defenders? As far as I know no Israelite has ever used suicide bombs intentionally against civilians targets (all though there have misplaced munitions on the wrong areas including one against a US Navy ship) War crimes can be put on all parties concerned. One countries war crime claim, could be justification by the other. War is Hell ! PEACE is harder but much better to have!!! What do you think?

As much as I hate to see civilians hurt or killed, Israel is fully justified in their actions. For years now Hezbollah and the PLO have continued to kill, injure and try to intimidate Israel, they along with many Arab governments say Israel do not have even a right to exist, and must be wiped out.
Hezbollah are disgracefully using civilian areas to luanch theirrocket attacks, knowing doing so will illicit a counter attack, and then fleeing like the cowards they are, before the Israeli retalitory strikes.
As much as I feel for the innocent Lebanese who are suffering for this, the blame can only fall on the Lebanese government who not only allow Hezbollah to operate in Lebanon, they endorse them! Indeed there are even Hezbollah ministers in the Lebanese government! The disgrace! What did Lebanon expect backing terrorists?!? The Israeli's have had enough, and rightly so. Worse still, most of Israel's neighbours including Syria, Lebanon, Iran, & Egypt also wish to see the Jewish state destroyed. They will not rest until they do so, what would you think was an apporopriate response to this?!?
If someone invited your worst enemy into their backyard so they could throw stones and smash your windows, what would your response be?
The Jews lived in Israel 1800 years before Islam even existed, and at the time the Arabs were nomads in the Arabian desert. It is their homeland, and they deserve to keep it. Arabs can call most of the Middle East home, but are not content with that. They wish to eradicate the Jews! Palestinians had a choice to live welcomed into Israel, but chose to try and force Israel out of existance.
Islam welcomes people from North Africa to South East Asia, but they are not content with allowing the Jews their one small homeland.
Israel have a right to defend their territory, they have a right to exist peacefully, without constant harrasment.
Come on, lets be realistic here. The Muslims are the aggressors, and the Lebanese are the victims, but Israel are doing what they have to, to defend themselves.
{MODIFIED} in response to ben (Below) Yes you are right, the Jews were relocated there from all over the world. After they had first been dispersed from there by the Romans in the second century, still 400 years before Islam was invented. Simple, they had their land stolen from them, the Arabs filled the void, the UK gave it back to the rightful owners in the Balfour agreement.

What war crimes? The crime of living, being able to have a family, or the fact that they have made a desert into an oasis! What does the secretary of the treasury from 20 plus years ago have to do with anything? How old is this codger? A billion.
It makes me feel proud to be an American. I noticed you not proud enough of your country to us where you are from.!

Israelis do not have a right to that land they are supposed to be defending.Majority of Jews there were the ones who were brought from all over the world and planted there by US ally UK...
it is supposed to give back the land to its rightful owners, the Palestinians,(which they had grabbed.in the 1967 war).according to the UN resolution 242 and 338....
even if they stay there without bombing the Palestinian lands there is no harm...but this is not wat they agree to and kill innocent Palestinians every day...agreed that Israel is defending their (usurped) lands then don't Palestinians have the same right??
Is killing children and women justified for just two pathetic soldiers...who were in fact spies???
IN ALL OF THIS US IS ISRAEL'S PARTNER IN CRIME!!!

Actually, I feel pretty good about it. I have absolutely no problems with Israel's right to defend their country; I do have a problem with the aggressive terrorism and random attacks initiated by Hamas and Hezbollah.

National self-defense is not a war crime. It is the Hezbollah terrorists, and the Arab nations that support them, that are committing the war crimes.
