Try to dust powder with brush. It gives natural looking more than using puff. Especially it doesn't stain or collect on the sides of your nose. Trust me!

Frequently the cause of redness and sometimes flakiness on the sides of the nose is from oil settling into that area and holding onto dead skin like a glue. We lose dead skin constantly, but when it builds up it causes redness, flaking and sometimes itching. Use a daily exfoliator. Clinique makes two: 7-day scrub for weaker, dryer skins; and Exfoliating Scrub for stronger oilier skins. The consultant at the counter would be able to tell you which one would be right for you.
Also, make sure your moisturizer is oil-free so as not to compound the problem and make sure it is full absorbed before applying the powder. It can become paste-like where the powder hits it.
There are a lot of new powders on the market that mimic the natural tone and texture of your skin. They look chalky for just a few minutes after applying and then they shift and settle to look just like your skin only better. Once again, Clinique makes two that I really like. Perfectly Real Compact Makeup for normal to oily skins and Clarifying Powder Makeup for oily acne prone skins.
Hope this helps....Good Luck!

Try using concealer to fix the redness on the sides of your nose. Apply it with a brush, then use a big round powder brush to lightly dust powder all over your face. You can use the powder brush with compact or loose powder. You will get a much nicer finish if you use brushes rather than sponges!

I have similar problems with nose redness due to my allergies. I found a great product, though! It's called "You're Bluffing" by Benefit. There are actually 3 different products: a concealer, a loose powder, and I can't remember the third. I think if you try the concealer- that's what I use, you may find that you don't even need the powder anymore. It covers up the redness great! Good Luck!

Don't apply with powder on the side of your nose, apply concealer there and then lightly powder it to set it
For the rest of your face put on a light foundation and use the powder to set it--if it still doesn't work then the problem may either be with your powder or your facial tissue

Probably because it's compact powder. It is just really hard to apply evenly. I'd suggest a loose powder, or try a finely milled pressed powder like MAC Blot.

Your nose may be dry, in which case you don't need powder. If you just want some sheer coverage, try getting a tinted moisturizer, or make one yourself by blending your moisturizer and foundation.
If you feel you need powder, try a high-quality compact, and put on a LIGHT dusting of powder. It does not need to be caked on.

It could be the powder that you are using is way to thick. But go to the store and buy a brush...a makeup brush. I hate the way that power looks when you apply it with the little round "thingy" it gets way to much makeup on it and then doesn't spread evenly on your face. Try the brush. I bet you will love the difference. Also, if you have problems with blotchy-ness (if you don't like foundation) they have a foundation stick. You just put it on spots. Like blotchy patches and/or zits. then you rub it on that spot and not all over your face. Also try bronzing beads. Not only will it help cover your blotchy-ness, but help give you some color too.
Good luck!

I'm not sure how you apply your powder. I think it would be best to invest into a quality brush, they can really make a big difference. Personally, I prefer brushes from M.AC. Before you apply the powder with the brush make sure to get rid of any excess powder.

Try going natural, Beauty is not for cosmetic purposes, or if you're too self-consious, try less makeup. Invest in a quality makeup brush, or try compact powder.
