i see it possible, then I see lawsuits shutting down the companies.

Yes and no. If it's something that doesn't have to be prescribed in a proper dosage. Like condoms or spermicide. If it's "the pill", no. It has to be right for the person. It's a drug that has the potential to cause serious damage if it's not prescribed accordingly. This means you need a doctor to do this for you. And it may take several different kinds before you find the one that will work well with you and not make you sick. But you must remember that even if you are on the pill, it doesn't protect from STD's. There is no prescribed birth control that will prevent an STD. Disregard the previous comment about sluts running around spreading STD's if birth control was by prescription only. Some people don't think before they speak.

No.

Not enough information is out there yet to have buyers buying over the counter. Too many pre teens/teens and some adults are still very uneducated about birth control.

It will increase the likelyness that the birthcontrol won't be taken correctly and potentionally abused by the user.

Every birth control brand contains certain amount of hormons. With out doctor evaluation, a person can take the wrong birthcontrol for their body. Won't do any harm, just give unwanted side effects. Plus, if did do harm to that person's individual body (lets say in allergic reaction case), I doubt that person go to the hosptial right away nor know awareness about it.

Of course it should be avaliable over the counter, I believe that the more widely avaliable birth control is the rates of STDs and unwanted pregnancies would decrease. In an age when abstinence is used by the few, the needs of the many outweigh them.

yes i do think it is good, because the real reason that teens get pregnant , because they are afraid of asking their parents for birth control, and most parents are going to flip out, and be like no way! so then if parents dont get it for them, then the kids go ahead and do it(we still gonna do it , no matter what) so if we could just buy birth contrsol over the counter, then parents wouldnt know, and the birth rate will go down, and parents wont get the suprise of mom/dad, im pregnant!

Yes i think that it would be wonderful. There is really no way to abuse birth control and i believe it would keep alot of teens from getting pregnant. Some teens are ashamed to tell their parents that they are having sex and sneak around. If they are going to sneak around anyways you might as well sell something to keep them from getting pregnant. Not all teens use condoms like they should and not everyone has them when they need them. But if they are taking their birth control everyday they are less likely to get pregnant. You still need to stress the issue of condoms for disease control.

Depends on your age. If you have never had any form of birth control you firstly need to see a doctor to discuss the best options , some may not be suitable. Take care.

No. I think that birthcontrol should be free, however i think a doctor should give it to you according to your lifestyle, and needs. There are so many different kinds out there how will you know if you need low dose or not.

But it is way too expensive. My health insurance does not cover birth control.

If your thinking birth control pills. I don't think it would be a good idea. I think there would be a lot of misuse. Also, I think in would decrease women's visits for yearly exams. Thus, raising the rate of cancers like cervical and breast cancer that are detected and treated if detected early.

Yes, I think it should be easier to get. You can treat a headache without going to the doctor, so why not be able to pick if and when you want to have children without a doctors help. I also think that it should be alot cheaper than it is too.
