either bloating from the water, or allergies
stick two spoons in the fridge for about 15 minutes to get them cool, then place them over your eyes for about 5-10 minutes. that'll bring down the puffiness.

Sometimes more sleep is just as bad as lack of it.
Next time it happens wash your face in warm/hot water as normal then splash it with cold (or you could do it with a hot flannel placed on face followed by a cold one)

they say not to sleep on your face as the fluids rush to your face and eyes....................prop a pillow up and sleep and in the morning you can even put cut cucumber slices or ice packs on your eyes to help reduce swelling. Prop your pillow

You may not have woken up totally, but perhaps you didn't actually sleep very deeply, that might be it.
