My back yard is pretty big. Lot is 50 ft wide, house is 30 feet I think. Want to get a room built all along the back. very plain, no frills. Would need one small bathroom. Wood or CB. House is OLD CB from 1942.
A good sized oak is too near the house and would have to be removed.
thank you. I realize any answers would have to be very "ballpark".

The rule of thumb use to be $85.00 per square ft. But with inflation on the rise it may be a littler more than that. If you are handy you maybe able to do some of the inside work yourself, like painting etc. That may help keep the cost down.

The bathroom will add significantly to the cost per squaare foot to build your addition. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see a 600 square foot addition cost you over $60,000.00. Building inspection departments are not nearly forgiving as they used to be with these types of projects. Because of the threat of hurricanes, they will insist that everything be built according to code.

Good luck with your project.

Here is a site that allows you to load in a few parameters and come up with a ball-park figure:

When I went through the exercise, it came out to $100.00 sq. ft., or $60,000.00 using the medium cost index. Good luck with your project!
