Dr. Gregorio F. Zaide (May 25, 1907-1986) is a Filipino historian and was born in Pagsanjan, Laguna where he was a mayor from 1971-1975.
He was the valedectorian of Laguna High School in (1926) . He obtained ihs M.A. in (1931) from the University of the Philippines and Ph.D. in 1934 from the University of Santo Thomas.
Dr. Zaide is the first Asian to win the United Nations Study Award (1957) and was a member of Instituto Historico de la Independencia Americana of Argentina and Instituto Panamericano de Geografia e Historia of Mexico. He became the Philippine Historical Association President three times and was a member of the American Historical Association (Washington, D.C.). He was awarded the prestigious Republic Cultural Heritage Award in 1968 by the Philippine Republic.
