This is known as the "Grandfather Paradox."
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grandfather_paradox

It is a common plot device in science fiction. (The wiki page above has many examples.)

You don't have to actually kill your mother or your grandfather ... basically anything you do to prevent your own birth, or you from growing up, inventing time travel, or using it, triggers the paradox.

There are many ways to resolve the paradox (i.e. an understanding of how time travel might work, where the paradox does not arise).

The best known is the "parallel universes" resolution. Basically, when you travel backwards in time, this creates a parallel universe that branches off at the time of arrival. You are then free to change the events all you want in the new branch. So you could kill your grandfather, and then you (the time traveller) would simply be in a new timeline in which the infant-you is never born, and never gets into a time machine ... but this is not paradoxical as the old timeline still "exists" in which you *do* use the time machine ... i.e. time travel is considered travel between parallel universes.

There are many other resolutions ... see the wiki link above, and many others, for details. Just type "grandfather paradox resolution" into Google.

If a time machine would be possible to build, it will have to do with worm hole theory. Many scientists from all over the world believe that if it was possible to leap back in time, the laws of physics would take you indeed into a past, but not yours. It is ipothesized that you would jump into an alternate past, remarkably similar with yours and all that you do and don't do, even your presence will affect that alternate universe and not yours..so, go on, kill your mother if you want, but she will not be your mother after all...and you will not dissapear...

that itself verifies that time travel is far from being possible. if it indeed will be invented in the future, then no one could have traveled back anytime earlier than 2006. because if so, history would tell us that there was this person from the future who managed to go back in time.

if a person ever did traveled back in time discreetly, say to kill his mom, it's also illogical. because if he did, he would not be born in the first place. it verifies that time is linear; two times could not happen at the same time. once it happens, it's there, it's history. and no one could ever go back again.

maybe before you wonder of what could happen, think first of the possibility of time travel.

If you went back in time to do that you and your mom wouldn't exist and she couldnt give birth to you unless you killed her after she gave birth to you then it would be just you......Kind of a random question man.

if some one travel past and kill your mom, you will not exist but if you will be able to travel past, and tryin kill you mom, you wont succeed

because

when you say past and you your self there means, it is fate that you have to born , and actually it has happened that you already born, and it it decided that , think from the (from your mother point of view) past day, that this gal is that who is killing me is actually my fdaughter, who ill be born after that many yers, and one day she will come back and try lkilling me, ok but there will be something and you wont be able to .... because to try killing and travel past you have to born and if you have to born, your mom have to survive and if she have to survive, then you have to fail :)
