I normally knit my socks with the detachable heel - scrap yarn it and then knit the heel in last, but I'd much rather do it with a heel-flap so you don't go through all the fiddly add the heel onto the sock thing. Doesn anybody know of a formula I can use for any number of stitches?

OK -- well, I'm a crochet girl myself, but mom always knitted -- how I envied her! While I'm not sure if any of these contain "formulas", you can try the links below. They have some very simple explanations with video and step-by-steps and say stuff about 1/2 of the # of stitches, etc., which may be your answer. Hope this helps!! Good luck.
