and after a while, a closeish friendship is formed and when this has been established, they ask if I can help them with a problem.
the problem is that as they live in africa or some remot place and money is tight, they need something like a new mobile phone or money for doctors bills.
Has anyone else had tis experience

IT IS SCAM BEWARE!!!! I have emails like this all the time and it is always from africa? I have some say I am a distant relitive and have so much money waiting on me, I have some like yours that say we are friends then turn out they need money or something . Tell them you are tight on money too and see if they ever contact you again.

No this is TRUE. You should send them money and help them out. Oh, by the way, I can you send me a million dollars. I really need it to support my bad gambling habit.

its a con man! Ive heard about it happen before.it starts of with something really simple and then after a while they ate asking for plasma TV sets and everything else.
