My favourites are canasta (especially 3-deck versions... italian canasta, samba, etc), bridge, 500, hearts ...
but there are easier games that are good for children

do you mean online...if so then disgard my answer unless of course spades..because they have internet spades but i like to play it in person..so yeah, spades is a good one and I love Rook and Rummy...
