I watched this movie last night again and was told that it was based on a book, can anyone tell me the name of that book or know where I might be able to find it? I've tried Amazon.com and can't find anything there.
Thanks!

Thornton had a previous short film & screenplay titled "Some Folks Call It a Sling Blade." The feature-length film was adapted from this. As best I can figure, threre's no book prior to the movie.

I'm not sure it was an actual book. I found this:

This story began as a one-man stage show and turned into "Some People Call It A Sling Blade" a twenty-five minute short. Billy Bob Thornton managed to earn two Oscar nominations: Best Actor and Best Adapted Screenplay.

Since he wrote the original short film and adapted it for the movie, I think Billy Bob Thornton wrote it from scratch.

French fried taters! Wasn't Dwight Yoakum a creep? Billy Bob Thornton wrote the screenplay, I don't think there's a book, but that would be great, wouldn't it? I think he got an Oscar!
