You could install a security program such as a keylogger, although at 14 am sure he could easily find out about it then you'd have to deal with more issues of invading his privacy.
Although I'm not a parent at 14 years old there must be a more mature way to keep an eye out for his safety.

I really didn't understand what the "sub act" was, I'm sorry.
If you meant a sub-account, then you must be the Primary Acoount Holder; as the adult, since he was minor when he got that account. Legally he's no longer a minor now.
However, as the Primary Account Holder, you get "Administrative Rights" over the other users.
Call Yahoo, or e-mail them with the details.
They'll reset the password for you and you can then create a new password for him which he can't change without your permission. They will not, however, give you the password as that would be a violation of his Rights.
All the best.
Cheers.
PS,
I do hope it was sub-Account, that you meant; otherwise, please disregard this information.
PPS,
Please do not install any keylogger, because it's the motha of viruses! And please don't try hacking, because that's illegal and you don't need to do that.
PPPS,
I think you should also consider what kja63 said about opening lines of communication and trust with your son.

there is a way... that you can get his new pass word
first.... you type in the ID and the old pass word and there will be this message saying pass word help.
right. then you click on it typing in all the information. They will be asking you about your age date of birth and so on. then you can have his new pass word.
another way is to .... there's such thing as " need parenter approver " or something.
i know these things because i hack into people's account.
This methods works provoided you know his data such as his pet's name and so on.
If you can answer all the questions, you'll get the pass word.
And if you can reset the personal profile.. change it to "parater " something. I'm not sure .... if you have such athing over in your counry... but if you have these, you can relax.
You can also put in such a thing called key logger.
but there's one thing for sure. his's going to find out about it.
Companies like yahoo woiuldn't be bothered if you call them, up to do something because there are so many such cases. So calling yahoo or emailing is useless.
I am not very surew if this is possible.. but wouldn't it be better to fix a cam (secretly of course on your com, that way, you would be ale to read what's in it.
My father always love spying on what i do and so he has got this feature somehow to check the history. I am not v.sure about this and I'm sure he would read this message........ os if he comments on how he install....it's your lucky day.
And who knows, he may just create a new account with datas that are not true.
That way, you can never get in.. because he can change his password all day log.
And he may start to go to hjis friend's house most of the time ot have some privicy.

You are his parent and he is 14. You have the right and duty to check his email. Your son has just challenged you by changing the password. He is also telling you he doesn't respect you and doesn't think you will do anything about it. Today would be the last day he sat at the computer and the last day he got an email until he convinced me he is trustworthy.
So quit being his friend and be his father.

well definitely open up communication and see what the problem is between you two. He obviously just like you have trust issues. Does he have any siblings? and is he the first child?
Seeing that he's 14 thats like the worse age lol 12-17. You can reset it and tell him that as long as he's under your roof it will be the set password and that if you didn't care what goes on in his life he'd be somewhere else.

If your son is 14 and lives in your home, it is perfectly fair for you to insist that you have access to his account. Why are you worried that he will know that you are looking at it? Let him know that you are looking at it, and let him know that you are keeping an eye on his internet usage to protect him. Ask him to reset the password to something that you will know and tell him not to change it without letting you know. If he doesn't follow your directive, then take away his usage of the computer. Very simple. Don't be afraid of your children knowing that you are looking after them!

www.majorgeeks.com go there and download a free keylogger. it identifies the letters and numbers behind the ************* whan a password is inputed
u will need to be the administrator of the computer to install this just goto control panel > user accounts and make ur account the admin and make sure his is not then a log entry will be created of everything he types on puter
i know this seems devious and underhanded but as a concerned parent u have a right and duty to know what ur child is up to ESPECIALLY ON THE INTERNET it is a very dangerous place to be

install a key logger (get a good one too so its harder to find and disable)
this way you can find out his password and check what hes saying and where he is going online etc etc a good one will record all this stuff
yeah i know there are trust issues here but what would you rather have ? a safe child or an unsafe one ? theres a lot of bad people out there
if you do it right he will never know

Make your son stay away from the computer. Tell him that if he wants to live a secret life he is going to have to do it on somebody else's computer.

You could explain that until he is a certain age the you need to know what he is doing should you decide to look at any time, if he refuses then confiscate his computer, until he sees reason. keep at it even if he gives out. Do not reward uncontrolable behaviour.
