I'm sorry I know the meaning I should have said where does the term fold come in that statement?

Most likely from Old English (Anglo-Saxon) origins: AD 450–1100. 'fela' = many, so probably 'fold' is a derivative of this word.

This might also be of interest to the origins of 'hundredfold':
"A 'hundred' is an administrative division, frequently used in Europe and New England, which historically was used to divide a larger region into smaller geographical units... it was that amount of land sufficient to sustain one hundred families...enough land to sustain approximately one hundred households headed by a hundred-man or hundred eolder"
