The first person that responded to your question is right, however keep in mind everyone is different and may not experience one of or all of the symptoms. Often it starts with one symptom then another and then another, and so on. When I had preeclampsia it started with mild fluid retention then increasingly got worse as time went on. Then I got the high blood pressure. Then I had the protein in my urine. By that time my dr put me on high blood pressure medication and induced labor at 36 weeks. Good luck!

Hiya You have already had quite a lot of detailed answers to your question but Id thought id add my contribution too! I didnt get it til 38 weeks when I went into hosp with a real bad ache in my lower side. They did a urine test and found I had lots of protein in my wee. I didnt have any swollen hands or ankles but when they took my bp it was very very high!
Everybody has different symptoms but I didnt get a headache until later on, shortly before I gave birth.

Protein in the urine
Swelling of feet, hands and/or face
Raised diastolic blood pressure - greater than 20 above booking blood pressure
General malaise - headaches in particular.
Pre-eclampsia is rare before 28 weeks.
But you do need to exclude it by seeing your midwife - if you haven't got an appointment coming up, phone the labour ward for advice.
Check baby is moving too.

Swollen ankles is always a symptom that gets the midwives panicking. High blood pressure as well.

THE BIGGIST SYMPTOMS I HAD WERE BLURRED VISION AND SEEING FLASHING LIGHTS! I ALSO HAD A BIT OF SWELLING IN HANDS AND ANKLES AND FEET!
ALSO VERY BRISK REFLEXES AND I HAD TROUBLE SHAKING. ALSO HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE!
PLEASE BE CAREFULL AND CONSULT A DR OR MIDWIFE IF U SUSPECT ANYTHING IS WRONG!
