I think it is safe to say that friendships come and go through out your life time but your childhood friends and teenage friendships seem to last the longest. If you are like me and you have moved to a remote location where most of your friends are at least an hour or two away, you have to adapt by staying busy and by always being friendly to strangers. I would say that most of my friends feel they same way, we keep in touch by the phone but as the years pass most of them get married and move away. I am sure that most of my old friends wonder where I have gone and wonder if I am still alive. My analogy would be that I made a few drastic changes in my life and I decided that close friendships were no longer a necessity. Even so I am still there for advice or help if they need me. If you want to measure a real friend see how they react when you are in trouble or emotionally distraught. Your real friends will want you to get better and the fake ones will put you down.

I have 4 or 5 friends who are very close and would do anything for me. Then I have about 25 more who are good friends who I have known for years and years, some since kindergarten. Beyond that I have another 10 or so who I see occasionally. I don't know where I'd be if it weren't for my friends. They are as important to me as my family.

REAL friends... I thought I had one I could trust, but he let me down too... So I'd have to say 0. Lots of friends, but none I'd trust with my personal stuff.

... Actually I do have 1, but he's in the military now, so I don't get to hang out with him or talk to him very much.

Only 3
If there is anything you don't want people to know about you, don't tell anyone. We give people too much responsibly when we entrust them with our business. Sometimes they repeat the information mindlessly; other times they use our story to make a point. We should only tell our problems to people who can help. Eighty percent of the people we talk to can't help us; the other 20 percent really don't care.
