Well, having only read the first book, maybe my opinions aren't as valid as others. However, it would make sense if she kills Harry Potter in the last book. This way, others can not continue her stories. If Harry Potter lives, then other authors can step in and write sequels. If he doesn't, then other people have nothing to work with. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle did that with Sherlock Holmes (he died in the last book). However, since Holmes is a book of truth and Harry Potter is a book of magic, Harry doesn't necessarily have to 'die' at the end, but Rawling will do something to make his character 'unusable'.
It would make sense to null any possible expansion of the series. This is her book, her creativity, and I wouldn't want others to extend the series I created (especially becuase of it's success).
As soon as I get the time, I am DEFINITELY going to read all the books. It's on my to do list.

I think that it only makes sense that Harry Potter will die in the last book. JK Rowling said in the beginning that she only intended in writing seven books, and if Harry Potter keeps on living after the series ends, no fans will be able to except not knowing what happens. I personally believe that Harry will defeat Lord Voldemort, but will die while doing so. thanks for asking!

i dont really read Harry Potter, but i heard that he is going to die in the last book( and i surely hope so, cause half of the books contests are "borrowed" from other novels). So in that way, even a 5y/o can make a best seller like that. lol

There is no way that J.K. Rowling will kill Harry Potter simply because I think she would lose all of her child fans, and their parents. No one is going to want to read to their kids that their hero for the last 7 books is dead. They would be devastated.
I really think Dumbledore is gone, but I still can't get over it.
I sincerely hope Snape is killed... and I also still think Sirius will come back and help Harry kill Voldemort... I mean, come on, he died by disappearing behind a black curtain?? Sketchy!!

i dont think so. what would be the point in having 7 books about him, and then have him die in the end. i dont think j.k. rowling would do that to all her loyal potter fans! this has to be a book where the moral of story is good overcoming evil. harry cant die in the end. it would be horrible if he did!

I am not sure, but I would think he would be one of the very few survivors. Reason: in Book 5 - the Order of the Phoenix, she has this prophecy where one must die (Voldemort or Harry) in order for the other to live.

I do not like Harry Potter, but he will die when the writer thinks it is time to retire, she has already won enough money

No. He's the main character. What would the Harry Potter series be w/ot the main character?

Yes.
I think one of the horcruxes is somehow in Harry, and his death will be necessary to bring about the end of Voldemort.
The fact that Rowling killed off Dumbledore in #6 demonstrates her willingness to eliminate whoever she thinks is necessary for the sake of the story/plot. I believe that Professor Snape killed Dumbledore with his (Dumbledore's) consent so Snape could prove his loyalty to Voldemort. Snape is basically, IMO, in deep cover. I agree with the other poster that Snape will be instrumental in ultimately destroying Voldemort.
