Right click on the desktop - properties and go to "desktop". Point to any pic in your hard drive. Use "browse" option. You can center, tile or stretch the pic to your liking.

If you choose a pic that is not in your Windows wallpapers directory then the pic must remain where it is (I just drag a copy directly to "C" drive root directory where the others are).

Unless your using XP Pro, then the same thing but it creates a duplicate copy and saves it..

when u right click ur mouse at the desktop , then u choose the properties ... there u ll find background wallpapers , themes and etc ... there u could change the wallpaper pictures ...

u can even add new pic that u have in temporary memory disks ...

You right click on the desktop then click properties then you select either a picture that is already in you pictures folder or you can select your own....

ok, go to contol panel, click on apprewance and themes.then you click on desk top baclground, then hit browse, click on what you want for your pic, and then click ok, and boom youve got it, its easy,
