I have a pond in sunlight to and keep koi last year my pond was covered in blanket weed this year I have used a product called Pond Balance I now have a clear pond just follow the instructions although this is pricey It does work

Have you a pond pump and filter ?

If not then you need get one to help remove the weed these are essential they remove all the rotting plant matter and what the fish produce as waste clean out weekly to start with and you will be able to get this down to once a month

if you are still getting green water then a UV filter as well would be an advantage you can get these incorporated into the filter

you need to filter the volume of your pond once every 2 hours to clean it out remove as much of the blanket weed with a cane and just twist the weed round it

all the best

The link below should help you alot.

Stop using blanket weed killer and learn about blanket weed - blanket weed loves sunlight - cut down the sunlight with lily's or any plant that stops light getting into the pond, this will not stop blanket weed but will cut it down - blanket weed takes oxygen from the water the plants will put it back - I use a natural way to fight blanket weed and that's barley straw (for the H202 in it), as for your pond getting dirty - if you mean the water gets green alot use a UV light this will keep the water clear - a good filter system will keep the pond clean so will a pond Vac (if you get a pump & filter remember to take into account the size of pond & what fish you have - kio **** alot more than goldfish).

Hope this help's

you would probably be advised to go to a book store and pick the best book for pond keeping around...
also do you have a local aquatics store?, if you do and you know that it has a fairly decent reputation there is no harm in going in and asking staff, that is what they are trained for and can help you with.
Just a few tips, before you go in, mesure your pond (or a rough guide), roughly know how many hours of sunshine your pond gets, and also add if you already have filtration or not.
The more hours your pond is the sunlight for promotes algae growth, hence why you find your blanket weed returns, also if you do not have a fliteration system, this is why it is getting dirty, your goldfishes waste builds up in the water. You may also have a to smaller pond for the amount of fish that you keep, do you just have goldfish or other fish species such as koi?. Koi are heavy waste polluters and with them, and the fact that your pond is in heavy sunshine i would seriously recommend filteration.
