Anyone know any good free AntiVirus software?

Spy bot is not free. I installed it & it found about 50 items & they want money to clean it. I asked their support & they have no free version right now.

You need more than just anti-virus. ALL the following are free.

I use all of the following Free software with Windows XP SP2 and Internet Explorer with MSN toolbar and the pop-up blocker turned on and have never had a single problem with my computer sense Microsoft came out with SP2. (knock on wood.) (And be sure to keep Windows and the following software Updated)


The best Anti-virus is: AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition. (www.grisoft.com)

The Best Spyware defense is: SpyBot Search and Destroy (http://www.safer-networking.org/en/index.html)<--English version

AND: AdAware SE (www.lavasoft.com)
AND Spyware Blaster (http://www.javacoolsoftware.info/kb/)
The best Firewall besides the one that comes with Windows is: Zone Alarm (http://www.zonelabs.com/store/content/co... or just (www.zonelabs.com) and select the FREE version.

These are all FREE and are all that are required. There is no reason to pay for this kind of software, except to give a donation to the writers if you can.
ALL the above programs are recommended and should be run on a regular basis. With some the free versions they must be run manually.

The best way to avoid getting any Malware (virus, Trojan's, spyware, etc) is to practice safe computing. Microsoft and many others have countless articles on the subject of safe computing. (something I think should be taught in schools)

There are several good products on the market - but i think u cand use some shareware solution instead of free ones - i've used nod 32 first and 2 days ago i've uninstalled it because the trial version was gone and tried bitdeffender - works fine for me -
U can also choos the free antivir but i dont think that it is a good solution: avast, avg free

I suggest if u have any issues with the computer currently then go straight to this link http://pack.google.com/intl/en/pack_installer.html (provided by google so its authentic)

and download norton's 6 months subscription for free so that u can clean your computer and then download the free ones

Antivirus - Grisoft AVG free version, (You have to search their site, but it is there). www.grisoft.com

Others to consider:

- Ad-aware - to remove adware from your computer

- Spybot - to remove spyware from your computer

- Zone Alarm free version, or Comodo firewall products, to protect your computer from hackers.

i would recommend you nod32. it's the best antivirus program ever, and even if it's not free, you have a 30 days trial period, and after this uninstall it and then reinstall :)
