You should not wear white SHOES after Labor Day until the next Memorial Day. White shoes do not go with fall & winter wear. Those people that say this is no longer the rule are following fads and not style. Style is something that someone has and it shows naturally - fads come and go.
Every time I hear one of those young girls say "That is not the rule anymore." I laugh inside.

I don't know the original reasoning behind this fashion rule but I do know that from Labor Day until Easter you are supposed to wear your darker, winter colors (no white shoes or purses) and from Easter until Labor Day you are supposed to wear your lighter, summer colors (no black shoes or purses). Of course this fashion rule has been thrown to the side during the last decade or so, therefore really you don't have to worry too much about it now a day. :)

Originally, the rule was to only wear white shoes between Memorial Day and Labor Day and that referred to white pumps.
