I know it sucks. Same thing happens with T in the park tickets every year. It should not be allowed. You should have to pick up your ticket at the entrance to the venue or something - this would stop it. ebay should not allow this types of listings to be put on. It is completely unfair!

I hate touts. I wanted to go and see Kraftwerk at Leeds about a year back. Touts knew Kraftwerk concert tix are desirable and so boght and resold them at 3x value.
Part of the problem is that sites like EBay are allowing them, without regulation. Sites like ebay are usually free markets, without any control on what is sold- a Sun reporter did tests and bought several replica handguns, a knuckleduster, cannabis seeds and a 20 inch machete quite easily on the site. All he needed was an account and credit card, despit EBay claiming to have rules of market.
The other problem is simply greed- if someone can make money, they will do it. It's an unfortunate side affect of our consumer culture. Some football clubs have a good idea though- putting the purchasers full name and purchase date on tickets. The tickets are specially printed so they can't readilly be altered.
The best thing to do is not to buy unless absolutely willing to pay grossly inflated prices. If they can't sell, then they will stop.

I know it is really annoying. I've been an obsessive gig goer since I was 13 and hate it when I can't see bands because touts snap up the tickets early. The same happened in Aberdeen with the Kooks, I decided not to bother as I saw them for FREE last year. If a band ticket costs more than x2 the price thats I've seen them before, I'm just not bothering.
Touts also go the other way too, if you have a spare ticket they try and rip you off. This guy try to buy a Franz Ferdinand ticket off me for £15 even though it was a £30 ticket.

u have uncovered a scam, my friend - basically ticket touts buy all the tickets they can operating in small gangs and groups to resell for a high profit
so when u hear madonnas concert has sold out in xyz seconds, it hasnt really as usually most of those will go to corporations and large companies now to give away or wine and dine potemtial suitors, the remainder will be picked by touts and resold at a much higher profit
in some cases, the artists or record companies are working with the touts to ensure demand outstrips supply and they stay 'popular'
oh and the reason why touts buy low and sell high is bcos its usually illegal, so u cant go to police and say he ripped me off, they are the only place u can sell your ticket (the concert organizer wont give a refund, so??)

I paid £120 quid on eBay for two Morrissey tickets back in May which to be honest i didn't mind paying as we really wanted to see him. At the concert we got talking to some woman who had paid £600 for 3 front row tickets. The only thing was when they got the tickets they found out they were for the front row on the top balcony. To add insult to injury Morrissey was only on for an hour and didn't do an encore. I understand they want to make a profit but the person who ripped those woman off should be shot, but i guess its the risk you take buying tickets on eBay.

Because they want the money, and they know people want the tickets - unfortunatly! £9 is cheap though so they make a big profit.
