a model is an ideal example or sample for us to aspire to and view. A modal is a helping word or auxillary.

model-noun meaning a person or anything which helps to bring out some ideas
modal -adjective means of the mode. modal value is the value with the maximum frequency

A model is something you can follow. Modal verbs are: 'can, could, may, might, should, must, had better, will, would', Semi-modal verbs are: 'have to, ought to, have got to'.
