This question has produced some really good advice!
So in addition to slowing down as you eat (eating to fast can defiantely cause bloating, you may not even know you do it!); choosing more natural foods to eat (although suddenly ading a lot of raw fruits and veggies to your diet can actually make it worse, so be moderate and slow with new additions, better to try cutting back first on fried foods and processed foods); choosing foods low in salt (the body needs salt, but without magnesium, potasium, and zinc the body can't process the salt very well - luckily fruits and veggies have the whole package all built inside! Sp again, cutting out frozen foods, canned foods, fast foods and eating more naturally WILL help.); keeping portions smaller but eating more often (it could be that you're just a teeny tiny girl and the full stomache is just visible becaue of that, so eat smaller amounts more often); exercise, help your muscles handle itself better (keeping your abdominal muscles tight and strong is the best defense, if it is flab, but based on what you said I doubt that's what it is!); and, as one person said, eliminating foods that you might actually be allergic to, such as peanuts, wheat, corn, and/or milk products (to eliminate you take all foods from that food group OUT of your diet for three weeks, and see if it helps - so for one week cut out ALL dairy. No yogurt, ice cream, milk, cheese, and alsoread the labels and look for cassiene and whey! That's milk too! Most labels say now if milk products are used, but not ALL labels, so be careful.)
ALL great suggestions. I would add that you might need to drink more water???? Bloating is caused by many things, as you can tell by the many answers. LOL It is the body's first response to something not being quite right. So it's a frustrating process to figure out WHAT that something is.
One of the best things to do is to up your water intake, to help flush whatever is wrong out. But interestingly, the body can only absorb something like 4 ounces of water every 15 to 20 minutes! So chugging giant 48 ouncers isn't the answer! Instead, try to carry those little bottles they have out now around with you. Sparklettes and many other brands have these kid-sized bottles of water available now and that is the perfect size. Sip at it to help keep your body flushed, especially during the hot months, when you're exercising and working hard (building up a sweat), and ALSO when you're sitting around the house!!!
Sodas can cause bloating both from the carbonation, and also the sugar can have a negative reaction that only shows up in weird, small ways, like a distended stomach. Sugary sodas also have sodium in them, so if you're drinking them throughout the day, your body is possibly getting too much salt. Sugar free sodas are worse in a lot of ways because the artificial sweetners have ALL KINDS of negative side effects on the body. So breaking the soda habit now, while you're young, is soooo much better! If plain water gets boring, mix it up by drinking the flavored waters. But BE CAREFUL you aren't adding in more calories and more salts! Corn syrup, which is in nearly every single kind of processed and fast food, is one of the worst culprits for making you bloat and causing other potentially bad reactions! So read your labels.
Good luck.
And, finally, if you ever become worried about it you can always go see the doctor.

It's caused by bloating. You want to figure out your triggers (could it be soda, lactose, etc). If that doesn't work you could have a medical issues that needs to be checked out by the dr.
