Use the person who threw up! Make them clean it up.
Otherwise just use a carpet shampoo/cleaner available at most Supermarkets

You can get cleaners from pet shops and big super markets that are meant for cleaning up after pets when they mess on the carpet. I have found that these cleaners work wonders on a multitude of stains on carpets, and they de-odorise too!

You have to act quickly as vomit contains stomach acid and it can stain carpets quickly.
Once you have cleared up the bulk of the vomit, you really need to use a deep carpet cleaner as the vomit will have penetrated deep and you will be able to smell it for some time.
I have been told that you can use vodka to clean the stain - whether that is true or not, I don't know.

Baking soda! Remove most of the mess and clean it down as best you can then throw some baking soda over the top, rub it in gently then hoover it off! this removes the smell then wash down as with a regular stain! I have 2 young kids and this remedy has been passed down through generations and when you have kids they puke up anywhere and everywhere and believe me this works!!

Get the person that barfed on your floor to get on his/her hands and knees--remove chunks and give some carpet cleaner and say go for it. Spray with cleaner, let set, rub with damp towel and do it again---then let dry and see how it looks.

If all else fails, there are a number of enzyme-containing cleaners out there. I would try lemon juice or vinegar first though, then soap and water.
