Yes it is very easy to get a taxi cab in Jamaica. No they are not stuck up like most of our fellow Americans. Us Americans are spoiled and expect everything to fall in our laps and most of all we carry around too much darn attitude. We need to loosen up and learn from third-world countries how easy-going and cool they are. Americans are too darn uptight in general...always on the go, always trying to out-do each other, never taking a moment to really appreciate life and others around us. I admire the resilience of the Jamaican people and laid back atmosphere in Jamaica. Everything there is No Problem Mon....and I like that because they literally do not take on unnecessary problems like Americans. Well I have been going to Jamaica every year since 2000 (Just came back in mid July) and I enjoy every trip there.

The people are nice and the taxi drivers like a good hearty conversation. Sometimes they would even go out of their way to make you enjoy the scenery. the younger taxi drivers drive a bit crazy, but overall they are all cool people and they would chat you up and play some nice reggae beats in their taxis.

The taxi drivers are also quick to point out places of interest and places to visit. You can even negotiate a reasonable price for them to take you on a personal tour. I recommend them because I have been there and used the taxi service and I find them quite friendly and catering.

Go, be respectful and they would treat you nice!

It can be if you try and get one in their rush hour they cram people in the taxi buses, but it's kind of fun. They are really nice and if can negotiate well you can find yourself some cheap rides. Jamaica was awesome when we went 5 years ago with my dad, he has a place out there that we stayed at.
