Sure they are. Just not here.

What people ask and answer here aren't graded. What is more important, the question asked and the answers given or whether proper grammar and spelling are used?

Yes I realise grammar and spelling are atrocious here. But would you rather have a great solution that contains bad grammar and spelling or a properly punctuated answer that was horrible?

Wow, you just hit on my last answer to someone! Thank you. But you're probably going to get a lot of flack for this, because I've posted questions similar to this and was told "If U don like it don reed ths" or "U R A pissy beyotch" So those were nice responses. I was also told by some 17 year old brainiac that "that's just the way kids talk these days, because we're used to IM'ing all the time we don't have to spell words out, they let us do it on our tests in school, why are you being so much thing about it?"

Good question.

When I open a question and it starts with "ok", then I know it's in trouble. A quick scan of the text usually finds that there is no capitalization, or punctuation.

I don't want to be a grammar Nazi, but it sure would be nice if it were at least readable.

Despair not dear. There are still many of us on this site whose grammar and spellling are impeccable. I know what you are going through sometimes reading what some people on this site write is agony, many times the words used cannot be recognized as being English words.

I have wondered why they do not use the spell checker that Yahoo has kindly provided. Maybe they are trying to make a statement or is this the text messaging generation?

Must not be it's quite annoying isn't it? If you don't know how to spell then use spell check in Word for Pete Sakes!! The best is when they type like ThIs, how juvenile

I think a lot of them are actually in the third grade. It's the new trend, I think, to be too lazy to learn how to spell or compile a sentence.
