Pakistan, officially the Islamic Republic of Pakistan (Urdu: اسلامی جمہوریۂ پاکستان), is a country located in South Asia that overlaps with the Greater Middle East. It has a thousand-kilometre coastline along the Arabian Sea in the south and borders Afghanistan and Iran to the west, India to the east and the People's Republic of China in the far northeast.[4]

The name "Pakistan" (IPA: /paːkɪst̪aːn/) means "Land of the Pure" in Urdu and Persian and was coined in 1933 by Choudhary Rahmat Ali, who published it in the pamphlet Now or Never[5] as an acronym of the names of the "Muslim homelands" of western India — P for Punjab, A for Afghania (the Afghan areas), K for Kashmir, S for Sindh and tan for Balochistan. An i was later added to the English rendition of the name to ease pronunciation.

Pakistan is the sixth most populous country in the world and the second most populous Muslim country. It was established as a modern state in 1947, but the region has a long history of settlement and civilisation including some of the most ancient cultures. The region was invaded by Afghans, Greeks, Persians, Arabs, and was incorporated into British Raj in the nineteenth century. Since independence, Pakistan has seen both instability, with the loss of East Pakistan (present day Bangladesh) and significant military and economic growth. Pakistan has the seventh largest armed forces in the world and is a declared nuclear weapons state.

I am a Pakistani and I love my country. It has everything from plains to top mountains to the worlds second highest mountain peak (Mount Godwin Austin or K2). We have the Indus river and fertile lands. We have the most yummiest fruits you'll ever eat. We've all seasons and natural beauty. It's a beautiful country. It is a developing country in hands of idiots but then that's our history but I don't care it is still home and then we are not the only ones who has a political history like that. We are normal people trying to make the best and not terrorists. No one knew Pakistan existed unless the whole thing with 9/11 started. Lots of bad publicity!
Besides alongwith India, we've some of the smartest brains especially in engineering and computer sciences!

Pakistan is an Urdu language word which means LAND OF CLEAN PEOPLE. And the biggest emblem of the movement for Pakistan was to establish world's first idealogically ISLAMIC state. Unfortunately, under the USA-sponsored military dictatorship, Pakistan is unable to achieve that PURPOSE of its creation. So, whenever I think of Pakistan, I think of a poor nation still trying to achieve its purpose of coming into being i.e. Islam.

I pity Pakistan. It is screwed up from all the rhetoric against India and war. It is also ironic when the Pakistani govt trains and send terrorists to Kashmir and then have to fight with Baluchistan. If India and Pak understand that they are from the same root and are friends, then both countries can prosper. As with all people, there are some nice pakistanis and some idiotic morons. Just my opinion.
