If we study the History, Culture, geography and view its geopolitical than it is part of Pakistan.
Non- of its single line meet any source with India.
India enter in kashmir by western powers Spe. England, (U.K). in next side it large part is link with pakistan by religious, historical, political,, and culture point of view.
Friends, Ashish B is living in 2250 years back. what a funny person if we talk about kingdoms than India is part of Islamic kingdom not 1000's year back its only 200 years. HAHAHA. In modern world where we talking about silicon valley, Ashish B, make some real real fun of back yard history. We Americans originally belong to Europe it not mean we attack on UK or its around parts by Propaganda that UK is part of America or America is part of UK. Its all depend upon people who live in that area what they need or like.
But if we going back its all happen by UK's Kingdom. They divided wrong the parts of Indo-pak between pakistan and India. The people of kashmir, Junagadh, mondavar and gurdaspur (Indian Part).

kASHMIR IS WELL CONNECTED WITH INDIA, BUT SEPARATED FM PAK BY MOUNTAINS
KASHMIR WAS DISCOVERED & HABITATED BY A GREAT HINDU KING.. ASHOKA the great.
Kashmir has an old Hindu history, both mythological as well as religious connections.
Kashmir's Capital named Shrinagar- means city of Godess Lakshmii- the Hindu godess of wealth.
Many of the Hindu pilgrimages are there, much more older than the Islam grew up.
Literally Kashmir means "land desiccated from water" (Sanskrit: Ka = water, shimeera = desiccate). According to Hindu mythology, Sage Kashyapa drained the erstwhile lake to produce the land. The earliest recorded history of Kashmir as an area begins with Ashoka Maurya who is often credited with founding the city of Srinagar as part of vast expanding empire. Kashmir was once a Buddhist seat of learning, perhaps with the Sarvāstivādan school dominating. East and Central Asian Buddhist monks are recorded as visiting the kingdom.
All this clearly indicates that Kashmir was & is an integral part of India, tried & 1/3 plundered by Pak... & definately be got back by India.

It is part of India. Pakistan is trying to stake claims to it because it is majority Muslim. Most Kashmiris (since they are mostly Muslim) want to either secede to be their own territory or secede to Pakistan.
