Why do some cut classes?

Some reasons for cheating in examinations and also bunking classes are.....

1....The odds of getting away with academic cheating appear to be heavily in the cheater's favor. Temptation to try cheating may be encouraged by the uncertain application of penalties

2....The prevailing attitude of a majority of students about cheating is that "it's not a big deal.”... a weak value system

3....They do it for grades, not because they're lazy or stupid or don't know the material. It's sad because they're so driven to have a high grade-point average so they can get into their first-choice college. We share the belief that college is the door to a successful career, and they may believe as well that the better the college, the better the chances of success later on.

4.....The strongest incentive to cheat is to the students in danger of failing.

5....The simple desire to take the easy road is sometimes advanced as the basic reason that students cheat.

6....Parents’ high expectation from their children may cause pressure to the student and drive him to cheat

7....They are working too many hours in paid employment to cope with schoolwork, or they have been devastated by drugs or alcohol or crime, or they are distracted by psychiatric or severe family problems, among the more common reasons.

8....The root cause of cheating (OR BUNKING CLASSES) in our school systems lies with inappropriate curricula and examinations. Our current educational methods that test by requiring students to prove that they can regurgitate the information presented in class without assistance from others, is boring for students, this present education which is arbitrary learning of irrelevant and uninteresting facts.

What I would answer is that there are actually two groups of "cheating" students: first, there are those students who haven't opened their textbook throughout the whole year (or term) and who want to at least just pass the exam ("I am not looking for a good grade, I just want a pass!"), to brag in front of their friends and parents too that they have done something with their life, by going to university and "studying". In my experience as a teacher (I have taught both grammar and literature), they try to hide small pieces of paper on which whole units are copied down, and what their job is during the test or exam is only to be sly and quick, and look at what the teacher is doing at the moment, where he/she is standing in the classroom. And you can recognize those students from the first 5 minutes of the exam! They just look at you and then in their pockets! It's probably because they want to brag in front of friends: "See, I told you I could pass this exam...... piece of cake!" (I know it's long, but just a couple of more things!) Then, on the other hand, there are those students who come to every single class (and if, God forbid, they miss one class in the whole year, they start giving you various excuses as to where they were and why they were absent). These great students study hard, do their homework, but I think that they feel a little insecure as to what they will do on the exam and the results they will achieve. They want to be the best, they want to have the highest score and so that is why they cheat, they want to be sure that every single question is answered and nothing important is left out! I am not saying that they haven't studied, but it is this problem of self-confidence. And I am sure that they will (without cheating) get a good result! But this second group is smaller than the first one. Well, thanks for reading the whole text. That is what I think on this topic.

I've never cheated on an exam. I've cut classes when the professor only teaches straight out of the textbook and attendance isn't required...otherwise I go to class.

Some cheat because they don't want to fail. Some cut classes because they think it is cool.

I did never cheat. But I have a question. When you have an exam, you cannot keep your textbooks with you. When you've got a job with your exam, you can. Isn't that silly ?

Because they don't really care about learning, all they are worried about is getting their sheepskin, and they think this will get them what they want in life. A sheepskin without the knowledge to back it up is as worthless as used toilet paper.
