This sounds like maybe eary labor or even a abrupto placentia. That is when the placenta becomes partually detached from the uterious. This pain could also be caused by a bad UTI (kidney) infections. I'd go to the doctor NOW!!!

Does it hurt when you move quickly? i.e. rolling over in bed or standing up quickly? If it's a sharp pain that only lasts about 10-15 seconds, it is just stretching ligaments/uterus. If it's not what I described, then you should probably call the doctor. Don't ever hesitate to call him...that's what he's there for.

Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy!!

I am also 17 weeks pregnant and experiencing the same thing. I think it is ligaments stretching. I have been massaging my belly with cocoa butter, it seems to help a little.

Everything is stretching to accomidate your ever growing body to make room for your bundle of joy. Ligaments stretch and bones move, believe it or not. However, if you are concerned, you should call your doctor immediately. Remember, the only stupid question is the one you didnt ask, especially when it could mean life or death for your unborn child. He/she counts on you for survival.

It could be normal or very serious. Whenever in doubt, call your doctor to be safe.

I had sharp back pain and it turned out to be the baby leaning on my ureter (coming from the kidney). he stayed there til he dropped.

This is very normal. Your uterus is growing and your ligaments are being pulled. You can take Tylenol for the pain if it bothers you sleeping you can take Tylenol PM.
