If you know that the baby is doing well (2 consecutive pediatrician visits where she was gaining weight), then she probably doesn't need to nurse during that time. If there's any question (if, for instance, she started having fewer wet or dirty diapers per 24 hours around the time she started sleeping through the night) or if you are in enough pain from engorgement to need her to nurse, then wake her.

There is a possible increase in her risk of SIDS from sleeping too long, but if it was her own idea, it's probably negligible. Be sure you are putting her on her back to sleep!!

Lastly, don't expect it to continue. It may, but consider that a special treat, because she could very well start needing to wake again in a day, a week, or a month.

This is great to hear. She shouldn't stay without milk for longer than 8 hours. My baby also did that and she is 3 months old and sleeps 10 hours now. As long as she feeds well during the day count yourself lucky!

As long as she is gaining weight and isn't having more than one really long stretch like that in a day, let her sleep and count yourself lucky!

Know that there will be a growth spurt right around 6 weeks and she'll need to nurse frequently at that time. SO......enjoy the sleep while it lasts because it may change!

My three youngest children all slept through the night before 6 weeks of age. It's perfectly fine as long as she's nursing every couple of hours during the day.

Its fine...my son started soing that at 2-1/2 weeks. Don't tell too many people...they'll hate you for having a great baby. My son went down at 9pm and woke up again at 7 am...nursed for about an hour and then went down again for another hour or so

Most people will tell you to wake the baby up; my pediatrician did too. i think they're nuts. I had one child who woke up every two hours through the night; i was not a pleasant person to be around. My other child slept through the night almost from birth; I was so happy. They are not going to starve to death so i say let em. My girl, the one who slept through the night, ended up being a little piggy through her 1st year, LOL. Now she's a normal happy healthy SMART little 6 year old.

Don't complain, unless the breast hurt of course, some babies do this. As long as her checkups are fine and she is gaining weight as normal, there should be no problems with it. My son did the same thing, however, both daughters wanted that 2 A.M. feeding. Course my son would drain both breast in one feeding, while the girls didn't. Guess they were light eaters at that age.

Count yourself lucky!! I read that newborn babies as young as 6 weeks old can sleep through the night so i think as long as she's well-fed it's perfectly alright for them to not wake up for feeds.

As long as the baby takes a nap sometime during the day. They will sleep longer and eat more when they go through growth spurts.
