I own 47 watches, so there is no absolute best. How much can you afford to spend? I think my Cartier "Tank LC" is the most beautiful and elegant watch. My gal and I have matching ones. Mine cost $5600 in 18 kt yellow gold in 1996. You can find copies of this rectangular watch by Seiko, Gucci, etc. for much less money. Among round watches, I like my Patek Philippe "Calatrava 3520D" that cost $10,800 in 1995. A new one cost $13,850 in yellow gold recently. Rose gold or white gold ones cost $15,000. I've mentioned dress watches thus far. Wear them with suits. You might also want a sports watch. My Breguet "Marine" cost $29,500 with 18kt yellow gold case and bracelet in 1999. I also have a Rolex "OP Datejust" that cost $13,150 with 18kt yellow gold case and bracelet in 1994. Many people imagine that Rolex is the costliest and best brand. That is wrong. The costliest brands are 1.Breguet, 2. Patek Philippe, 3.Vacheron Constantin. My watches by these 3 brands are more accurate than my Rolexes.

Timex, business style. Makes you look serious. Like for job interview. Plain Black ban, or silver metal band if you have big wrists. This would be a face watch, not those floating numbers.
If your a teenager any of those wacky ones, like one with calculator on it. These wacky ones are mostly plastic. And have that flashing numerals. Not a plain face watch.
